The Lord said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh, for I have made his heart hard, and his servants’ hearts, that I might show these My signs [of divine power] before him, And that you may recount in the ears of your son and of your grandson what I have done in derision of the Egyptians and what things I have [repeatedly] done there—My signs [of divine power] done among them—that you may recognize and know that I am the Lord. (1-2)

What God is doing in your life today is not just about you. The challenges you are going through today are also not just about you. Often, God is working in your life to build a heritage and a legacy that will last long after you are gone. That is a powerful thought. The most significant moments in our lives are rarely planned. Instead, they are often unexpected, and then we look back in amazement to see that God was up to something, and we had no idea at all. Those incredible events where God breaks into your everyday life and does something that is beyond expectation become the stories we later cherish and tell to our children and grandchildren.

In this text, the Lord was at work delivering the children of Israel from slavery in Egypt. However, He was also equally at work creating a heritage and legacy of His faithfulness that future generations of Israelites would refer to over and over again as their origin story. We should step into every day as if this could be the biggest and greatest day of our lives because we never realize that kind of day has come until we are in the middle of it. Be prepared for Him to break into your humdrum routine with something so big that you will tell your children and grandchildren the story for years to come. He is making you who He wants you to be and building in you a legacy to someday make them who He wants them to be. Embrace that!

This is so true. I can look back over my life and see how God was preparing me for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). I had no idea at the time but hindsight is 20/20.
