Psalm 37 NLT
Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. (5-6)
Reading this text in the NLT was like a breath of fresh air. So many times, we try to fight our own battles, to take up for ourselves or to justify our actions. Yet, Scripture says if we just trust the Lord and commit everything to Him… then HE will make our innocence know to our others and will make others see the justice of our cause. We spend more time it seems, trying to convert people to our position on an issue than we do in trying to convert people to Christ. That is a waste of our time and theirs. In the same way that we must just be faithful and let Him do the work of changing people’s hearts, we must also trust in Him and let Him do the work of vindicating us. If He chooses to not vindicate us then that is still good because His will is what is best. Whatever you are facing, whatever you are praying for, whatever you are wrestling with in your heart, whoever is standing against you—just commit everything you think and say and do to the Lord. Trust Him and He will help you.
