Acknowledge that the Lord is God. He made us, and we are his—his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. For the Lord is good, and his faithful love endures forever; his faithfulness, through all generations. (100:3-5)
God is the owner of everything, even the owner of you. Whether you are saved or not He owns you because He made you. We are His by creation, even though many don’t acknowledge Him as they should. However, if you are His child—one of His sheep who has been transformed by the grace of God in Christ, then you are His twice; the first time by creation and the second time by redemption. He is the Lord of your life and He is worthy of your praise. We thank Him and bless Him because of who He is and because of what He has done. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. His ownership is certain and His care never wanes.
The Psalmist extols the attributes of God in these verses by highlighting His goodness, His faithfulness, and His love. God, and these attributes of God, are eternally steadfast throughout all generations. No matter what happens, no matter where you find yourself, you can count on Him. He is there with you and your circumstances do not make Him less faithful. No matter how big the problems you are facing might seem, He is still good. Not only is He good, but He cares for you. He is not a good God who is too busy with other sheep somewhere else to tend to you. He is with you right now, right in the moment of your distress and right at the point of your need. He is faithful and always will be.
