“But ask the animals, and they will instruct you; ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you. Or speak to the earth, and it will instruct you; let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? The life of every living thing is in his hand, as well as the breath of all mankind.” 12:7-10
If only we were as wise as creation. All of creation shouts the glory of God and demonstrates that He is there and that He is Lord. Only the pinnacle of His creation, people, dares to question who is really running the show! Job continues in this chapter to articulate how Wisdom and Strength belong to God alone. He is in control and He is sovereign. Sometimes we get a little full of ourselves and think that we are smart enough, or strong enough, or maybe stubborn enough to control our circumstances. It only takes a little sickness… a lost job… a rebellious teenager… the brush of death in a family (I could go on), to remind us of just how frail and utterly helpless we truly are. Our lives are in His hands; Praise be to God, they are exceedingly good hands.
